Notice: Only the registered athlete is permitted to pick up their race materials. Packet pick-up will NOT be available on race morning.
1pm -6pm: Race Expo
1pm, 3pm, 5pm: Athlete Briefings will be held outside the Athlete Check-in tent, occurring at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm.

REGISTRATION / PACKET PICKUP / GENERAL INFORMATION
Personal Communication Plan: Prior to departing for Galveston, be sure to establish a communications plan with family and friends. Share the race day emergency contact listed below with those who may need to reach you in an emergency situation. Even if you are in Galveston with friends or family, it is essential that you have a plan for contacting or reuniting with your group following the race.

Athlete Check-In: Athlete Check-In hours are Friday, October 21st- 1pm-6pm, and Saturday, October 22nd- 10am-5pm at Moody Gardens under the big tent next to the Pyramid. Please note that Athlete Check-In will NOT be available on race day. If you do not arrive during the designated Athlete Check-In hours, you will not be permitted to participate. NO ONE OTHER THAN THE REGISTERED ATHLETE IS PERMITTED TO PICK UP A RACE PACKET-FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS INCLUDED. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Please bring the following items with you to Athlete Check-In:

  • Valid Photo ID
  • Proof of USAT membership, or $10.00 USD cash to purchase a one-day license.
  • If you are a USAT member and forget your card, you will be required to sign the USAT waiver and pay for the $10.00 USD cash one-day license. If you selected to purchase a one day pass online during registration, be sure to just bring a photo ID.

Athlete Briefings will be held outside the Athlete Check-In and Expo tent at Moody Gardens. Athletes are strongly encouraged to attend one of the pre-race meetings before picking up their athlete packet and race materials.

  • Friday: 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm
  • Saturday: 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, 5pm.
    **Please note there will NOT be an athlete briefing at 4 pm.

If you have any questions regarding rules, relay teams, course, etc. … the Athlete Briefing is the place to ask!

Mandatory Bike Check In is located near the Moody Gardens Pyramid in the transition area from 11am-6pm on Saturday. ALL BIKES MUST BE CHECKED AT TRANSITION BY SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22ND AT 6PM! MORNING BIKE CHECK-IN IS NOT AN OPTION.

Race Weekend Parking: Athletes will be able to utilize the parking lot near transition and the Registration tent up until Saturday evening around 6pm. Athletes will not be permitted to park in the transition lot on race morning. There will be ample parking available at the Moody Gardens Hotel parking Garage within walking distance of the race site.

Transition opens at 5am on race morning for both the 5150 Galveston and the Lonestar Sprint athletes. Transition will close at 7am for the 5150 Galveston athletes and will close at 7:45am for the Lonestar Sprint athletes. 5150 Galveston athletes will not be allowed to enter transition after 7am, and Lonestar Sprint athletes will not be allowed to enter transition after 7:45am.

Athletes under 18 years of age: All athletes under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Please note to bring a valid photo ID, and proof of USAT membership. If the athlete is not a current USAT member, and did not purchase the one-day license online, they will be required to purchase a youth USAT one-day license for the cost of $5.00 USD cash.

Relay Teams: Please note it is easiest when all members of the relay team come together to get their race materials. Every relay member must bring proof of a valid photo id, and proof of USAT membership. If athletes are not USAT members, they must pay for the one-day license ($10.00 USD cash). NOTE: ALL TEAM MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND ATHLETE CHECK-IN. NO ONE OTHER THAN THE REGISTERED ATHLETE WILL BE PERMITTED TO PICK UP THEIR RACE PACKET/MATERIALS-NO EXCEPTIONS.

Athlete Wristband: A wristband with your race number will be affixed to your wrist at Athlete Check-In. This band will identify you as an official participant and must be worn during the entire event. The wristband is required for medical identification purposes and allows you access to the transition area and post-race areas. You will not be allowed to remove your bike and gear from transition following the race without your wristband affixed to your wrist.

Timing Chips and Straps: All athletes will receive their timing chip and strap near the swim start the morning of the event. Chips and straps will not be handed out during the scheduled Athlete Check-In hours.

Race Bib: Please remember not to wear your bib number during the swim portion of the event. If your race bib gets wet, it may not hold up for the duration of the event. Race bibs are not required on the bike portion of the event. You must have your race bib for the run. The race number must face the front and be clearly visible at all times. Numbers may not be cut, folded, or altered in any way.

Lost and Found: After the conclusion of the event, please contact galveston@5150.com to locate any missing items and schedule returns. Shipping fees will apply. All unclaimed items will be donated 30 days after the event date.

NO IPODS, HEADPHONES, etc. ALLOWED ON THE COURSE AT ANY TIME.

The 5150 Triathlon Series is a USAT sanctioned event, and abides by all USA Triathlon rules. We encourage all athletes to review the rules and most common violations by visiting:

CURRENT WATER TEMPERATURE
The current water temperature is approximately 77 degrees. At this time it is too early to determine whether or not the swim will be wetsuit legal. It will come down to a race morning decision.
Hy-Vee 5150 U.S. Championship-5150 Galveston Athletes ONLY:

Once race results are posted, if you have placed in the top 10 in your division please visit the Hy-Vee tent near the awards ceremony. There will be qualifying slots to the top ten athletes in the divisions listed below:

  • Elite Amateur (male and female)
  • Athena (39 and under, 40 and over)
  • Clydesdale (39 and under, 40 and over)
  • Age Group
  • Physically Challenged

Staff will distribute a qualification certificate and visor. Information regarding registration will be emailed to each qualified athlete once online registration for the event is launched.
